Which links
Product links to Amazon, Newegg, Best Buy and Micro Center in our guides and recommendations may be affiliate links. When one is, the store (or its affiliate network — Amazon Associates, Rakuten Advertising for Newegg, Impact for Best Buy) can tell that you came from us and may pay us a percentage of the sale. Links to Micro Center are plain links unless Micro Center offers us a program in the future. Links inside our step-by-step instructions to Microsoft, hardware makers or tools are never paid.
What doesn't change
- The price you pay. Commissions come out of the store's side, not yours.
- What we recommend. Advice comes from fixed rules about your hardware. Free fixes come first, and “don't buy anything” is a common answer.
- How stores are shown. When we suggest a product, all four stores get equal space in the same order, whether or not a store pays us.
- Prices. We never invent or estimate a store's price. A price appears only when it comes from the store's official data, with the time it was updated; otherwise you'll see “Check price”. Prices can change at any time — the store's page is final.
Paid placements
We don't accept payment from brands or stores to be featured, ranked higher or reviewed. If that ever changes, it will be clearly labeled where it appears.
